A. A. Hodge

A. A. Hodge (1823–1886) was a prominent Presbyterian theologian and son of the influential Charles Hodge, serving as professor of systematic theology at Princeton Theological Seminary where he shaped Reformed Protestant thought during the late nineteenth century. His major work, *Outlines of Theology*, synthesized Calvinist doctrine in accessible form and became widely influential in Presbyterian education and pastoral training. Hodge's theological contributions were marked by his defense of traditional Reformed orthodoxy against emerging liberal Protestant trends and his efforts to demonstrate the compatibility of Christian faith with scientific inquiry.
