Author
Levi Hart
Levi Hart (1738–1814) was an American Congregationalist minister and theologian whose evangelical preaching and writings significantly influenced late eighteenth-century New England religious thought. A graduate of the College of New Jersey (now Princeton University), Hart served as pastor of Preston, Connecticut, and became known for his moral theology and advocacy for Christian virtue, as exemplified in works such as *The Description of a Good Character*. His theological contributions bridged the Great Awakening's revivalist fervor and the emerging rational Christianity of the early American republic, making him a notable figure in the transition from colonial to early national American Protestantism.
