Moses Hemmenway
Moses Hemmenway (1735–1811) was a prominent Congregationalist minister and theologian whose Election Sermon exemplified the intellectual currents of late eighteenth-century New England divinity. His theological work engaged with questions of divine sovereignty and human agency during a period of significant religious and political transformation in post-Revolutionary America. Hemmenway's contributions to the pulpit tradition and his articulation of Reformed theology made him an influential voice among his ministerial contemporaries in Connecticut.
