Author
Nathan Strong
Nathan Strong (1748–1816) was an influential American Congregationalist minister and theologian whose pastoral leadership at the First Church of Christ in Hartford, Connecticut, positioned him as a significant voice in late eighteenth-century Protestant thought. His theological writings, including *The Anniversary Election Sermon*, engaged contemporary debates over ecclesiastical authority, republican virtue, and the relationship between religious faith and civic responsibility during the early American republic. Strong's work exemplified the moderate Calvinist tradition that sought to reconcile orthodox doctrine with Enlightenment rationalism and emerging democratic ideals.
