Nathan Strong

Nathan Strong (1748–1802) was an influential American Congregationalist minister and theologian whose pastoral work at the First Church of Christ in Hartford, Connecticut, positioned him as a significant voice in late eighteenth-century Protestant thought. His sermon literature, including *The Anniversary Election Sermon*, exemplified the integration of Reformed theology with emerging American political ideology during the Revolutionary and early Federal periods. Strong's theological contributions helped shape the intellectual foundations of American Congregationalism while engaging contemporary debates about ecclesiastical authority, civil governance, and Christian virtue in the new republic.
