Author
Nicholas Noyes
Nicholas Noyes (1647–1717) was a prominent Congregational minister in Salem, Massachusetts, whose theological writings and pastoral leadership shaped early New England Puritanism during a period of significant religious and social upheaval. As author of *New England's Duty and Interest* and other sermonic works, Noyes articulated the covenantal theology central to Puritan identity while addressing the spiritual challenges facing the second and third generations of settlers. His ministry during the Salem witch trials era and his subsequent theological reflections on divine providence and ecclesiastical discipline made him an influential figure in late seventeenth-century American religious thought.
