Noah Worcester

Noah Worcester (1758–1837) was an American Congregationalist minister and theological reformer whose progressive religious thought significantly influenced early nineteenth-century American Protestantism. A prolific writer and editor of the Christian Disciple, Worcester championed rational theology and pacifism, advocating for universal salvation and the abolition of war as incompatible with Christian ethics. His Election Sermon exemplifies his efforts to reconcile Calvinist orthodoxy with Enlightenment rationalism, positioning him as a key figure in the transition from Puritan to liberal American theology.
