Richard Field

1561–1616
Richard Field (1561–1616) was an English conformist Reformed theologian and Dean of Gloucester. His five-book treatise *Of the Church* (1606, expanded 1628) is the most substantial Reformed-conformist ecclesiology of the early Jacobean church — a sustained defense of the Church of England as a true visible church against both Roman and Separatist accounts. A close friend of Richard Hooker and chaplain to James I.
