Author

Samuel Parker

Samuel Parker (1640–1688) was an English clergyman and theologian whose *Election Sermon* exemplified the Restoration church's engagement with providential history and political legitimacy. As a prominent voice in late seventeenth-century Anglican thought, Parker articulated theological justifications for monarchical authority and ecclesiastical settlement during a period of significant religious and political upheaval. His sermonic works contributed to the broader intellectual framework through which the established church negotiated its relationship to state power in post-Commonwealth England.
